From my perspective, the 2026 sculling camp at Sweet Briar College offered exceptional value. I plan to return in 2027.

Post-camp, one of my teammates told me my bowing in the quad is better and smoother than it was before.

Each camp day was thoughtfully planned. Time was not wasted, nor did I ever feel rushed.

I feel like I’ve gained years of experience from you and Maria’s instruction.

I thoroughly enjoyed the technical focus of the camp in a sport where fitness alone is so often the focal point of training. The mindful, monk-like approach is what I remember most about this camp.

The idea of intentionally varying movement patterns and observing the results was especially valuable to me.

One of the biggest impacts of the camp was the combination of what I did hear and what I didn’t hear. I didn’t hear a constant chorus of cues like “pull harder,”, or “square earlier,” or “keep doing the same drill even if it isn’t helping.” Instead, the coaching emphasized concepts such as releasing tension, building the drive, experimenting with release timing, and mixing things up with drills I’d never encountered before. That approach has made me much more curious and intentional in my sculling.

The Comfort In The Boat session is the most memorable - the most personally challenging and intriguing (“huh? you can really do that in a 1X?) as well as fun.

I had a blast at the camp and I learned a lot. More importantly, I have a higher level of confidence than before.
